Instead of teaching AI to see in a literal way, Paglen used references from art, literature, mythology, and philosophy to train it. This allowed the AI to “hallucinate” or imagine the world in ways influenced by different cultural and historical viewpoints – creating a new, dream-like way for AI to “see” the world, blending imagination with technology.
