Upcoming Drops: Jan. 15 – Jan. 21
Let’s face it: The NFT space moves really fast. Considering how quickly things can change in the metaverse, a week in NFTs might as well be a month IRL.
Don’t get us wrong — the merrier, the more people onboarded into the space. But because of the constant influx of great art and ideas, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the news, launches, and general happenings.
Well, you can put the days of endless Twitter and Discord scrolling behind you as we pull together a weekly list of upcoming NFT drops you don’t want to miss. Here’s what to look out for this week.
CryptoUndeads
Who: knownasdollar
What: 3 SOL. A three-stage process: pre-sale airdropped at 8 pm UTC, followed by an allowlist mint and then a waitlist mint open to any wallet that entered the project’s allowlist raffles. The allowlist and waitlist can mint one per wallet.
When: Jan. 16
Where: cryptoundeads.com
Why: This hotly anticipated mint aims to bridge the gap between the Solana and Ethereum NFT communities and has smartly reached out to the top communities in the space, building a loud backdrop of FOMO. The project will likely pump at mint, and Dollar and the team are promising high-level brand activations and partnerships.
Patrick Amadon – Sequence
Who: Patrick Amadon
What: Seven 1/1s for auction, released one a day for a week
When: Starting Jan. 16
Where: exchange.art
Why: Physical oil-based works and AI alchemy collide in a set of works that use AI to reimagine Amadon’s paintings. These works on SOL are likely to be visually stunning and widely desired as the artist’s foray into fine art on SOL continues. We’ve not had a preview of the works in the collection, but Amadon has been posting a lot of new work on his X account.
Pizza Ninjas
Who: NinjaAlerts
What: .03 BTC, 1500 Ninjas optimized for use as profile pictures on X and Discord
When: Jan. 18, 10 a.m. EST allowlist, then a series of waitlists, then public sale at 2 p.m. EST
Where: Magic Eden. (You can learn more about the collection at ninjas.pizza)
Why: A lot of thought has gone into this Ordinals collection, with colors selected by ColorSchemer founder Max Savin, using science! They’re also designed as PFPs from the bottom up: for example, every Ninja has room for the emoji and hands we use on Twitter Spaces. Spearheaded by Trevor.btc, Ninjalerts CEO and host of Not Financial Advice with nft now.
Rafaël Rozendaal – Twist
Who: Rafaël Rozendaal
What: Edition of 250 generative pieces sold in an exponential Dutch auction.
When: Jan. 17, 6 p.m. GMT
Where: Art Blocks
Why: This bright, hypnotic generative art collection is a series of works full of spiraling colors, pushing and pulling each other round and round. The Dutch creator is a digital art OG and has been making NFTs since 2021.
Space Grails
Who: Axiom Space, Transient Labs, Nifty Gateway
What: Auctions, mostly of 1/1s, by eight leading artists, including Amber Vittoria, Jordan Lyall, and Dave Krugman
When: Jan. 17th. Beginning 6 p.m. EST.
Where: Nifty Gateway
Why: This is your chance to own the NFT of leading creators’ artworks that are going into space! In a partnership between Axiom Space, Nifty Gateway, and Transient Labs, the artists create physical works that will go up into orbit and pair them with unique digital works available on Nifty Gateway.
ThankYouX – Terrains
Who: ThankYouX
What: 100 unique works, .045 BTC each
When: Jan. 18
Where: Magic Eden
Why: ThankYou started with a physical artwork, which he digitally broke into 100 pieces for his Bitcoin ordinals debut. This one has got the juice: bold strokes, piercing colors, and powerful emotions. The biggest Terrains holder will receive the original physical!
Speedtracer
Who: Sammybauch.eth
What: 366 generative race tracks used in a game on Base. .0875 Base ETH each.
When: Jan. 18
Where: Highlight.xyz
Why: This highly technical project is both a generative art collection and a pretty cool game, where you try to trace the track fast with your finger—and get on the leaderboard! You can also mint your race results. Innovative, fresh, and fun.
