Line Next Launches Web3 Game ‘Sweet Monster Guardians’
Line Next’s Sweet Monster character brand is now the heart of a new Web3-based strategic defense game, Sweet Monster Guardians.
The Web3 game, developed by Line Next, was developed by combining NFTs with the brand’s existing mobile game, Sweet Monster. It’s set in a whimsical universe where Sweet Monsters, messengers of happiness, unite to protect their town from unforeseen incidents. Choosing from various gameplay options, players can strategically drag and drop their character cards to attack enemies, merge identical cards to enhance their skills, and challenge other players to real-time battles through multiplayer mode.
When Sweet Monster first entered the international market in 2014, Asia’s mobile messaging behemoth, Line, took a different approach with its business model, including its gaming subsidiary, Line Next.
Rather than focusing on the domestic markets for business development, Line chose to leverage Korea’s first character in the food and beverage industry, eventually growing the character into a global brand that centers around the motif of various desserts such as chocolate, lemon, popcorn, cookies, and cake.
The global brand has since expanded Sweet Monster’s storytelling by expanding its IP character licensing and collaborations to content creation spanning gaming, animation, mobile messaging, and more.
Sweet Monster Guardians is the latest title on LineNext’s Game Dosi Web3 gaming platform In May, Game Dosi announced its first gaming lineup of 5 genre titles ranging from RPG and Simulation to Social Network Gaming, including Sweet Monster, Keroz, Project GD, V.L.O., and DKR.
Alongside the launch of Sweet Monsters Guardians, Game Dosi also announced the sale of Sweet Monster NFTs, beginning on October 6, which can be set as “gaming profiles” that help enhance the overall gaming experience.
“Depending on the NFT Grade, you can get a useful buff effect on playing. In-game profiles can only be set to one NFT. The buff effect in the game varies by NFT, and even with the same grade, the effect varies depending on the jewelry worn by the character in the NFT,” the company’s blog post reads in part.
For current Sweet Monster NFT owners, Line Next is already rolling out in-game perks, where their NFTs will now be imbued with extra in-game potency. The initial game launch excludes players in South Korea, Japan, and China at this time.
