Temple Girls would dance to keep the men of their community true to the temple and the Goddess before the rise of the patriarchal Abrahamic regions, which have cast the dance of desire into the gutter and cloaked it in the straightjacket of shame. This stripped-down set of images captures the essential and ancient power of the feminine to attract her mate with reverence and respect. It remains my favorite set of photographs I’ve made trying to capture the essence of attraction, which is why I chose to inscribe them permanently into the Bitcoin Blockchain. These photos were taken in collaboration with S Factor dance instructor Shina Degucci in 2010.
