Pablo Picasso’s Family to Release Multimedia NFT Collection
One of the most beloved names in all of fine art will soon be officially entering the NFT ecosystem. Today, Marina Picasso, granddaughter of Pablo Picasso, and her son Florian Picasso have announced a multimedia and multi-platform collection of 1,010 NFTs.
The forthcoming collection — which will depict one of Pablo Picasso’s ceramic works that has never before been seen publicly — will be divided up into multiple drops beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET on Jan. 28. First, a collection of five limited sets of 200 NFTs entitled “Visage de Couleur” will be sold via the Picasso family’s own ManAndTheBeat.com marketplace, before the final collection of 10, “Visage de Lumière” are released via Nifty Gateway.
Although Pablo Picasso’s likeness has been flaunted across the blockchain by way of fanart, the iconic artist’s namesake had never been truly entered into the NFT marketplace until now. Featuring 1,010 NFTs, the collection, entitled “Man and The Beat,” will be further commemorated via Florian‘s new song “Tomorrow” featuring John Legend and Nas, and set to release on Feb 4.
Similarly, Marina will be extending the drop into March by partnering with a storied auction house for the sale of a 1-of-1 NFT paired with an exclusive piece from her private collection. In an interview with the Associative Press, Marina said the inspiration behind the entire NFT collection comes from the aforementioned ceramic piece, created when she was a child.
“It’s a work that represents a face, and it’s very expressive,” Marina tells AP. “It’s joyful, happy. It represents life … It’s one of those objects that have been part of our life, our intimate lives — my life with my children.”
A portion of proceeds from this Picasso family NFT endeavor will be donated towards Nurse Heroes — a charity organization working to create a future without a shortage of nurses in the workforce — as well as Carbon180 — a climate-focused NGO on a mission to fundamentally rethink carbon.
