Sailing the OpenSea: CrypToadz, G’EVOLs, Defaced & More
Ahoy & GM weary traveler,
Traversing the vast expanse of the world’s largest NFT marketplace has become a bit daunting, hasn’t it?
Well fret not, I’ve been venturing far and wide with the simple goal of unearthing the most innovative and awe-inspiring NFT projects out there!
In this weekly column, I’ll share all sorts of discoveries with you – big, small, new and old. So all aboard the S.S. WAGMI to marvel at what I’ve found whilst Sailing the OpenSea…
CrypToadz
CrypToadz is a new generative pixel-art PFP project from gremplin, whose work you may recognize from nounsdao. In the perfect marriage between meme and NFT culture, the devs settled on a total supply of 6969 avatars reminiscent of the infamous Pepe the Frog.
Originally minted at 0.069 ETH each, the Toadz floor has seen some parabolic action and settled around 0.7 ETH for the moment. With endorsements from an assortment of influential artists and collectors across the NFT space, CrypToadz are not only hilarious, but were released to the public domain – meaning the creator has waived all his rights under copyright law. Owners can use the art as they see fit!
G’EVOLs
Following up the success of his D’EVOL project, KidEight hopped on the PFP bandwagon with an incredibly high quality offering. Featuring 8888 generative EVOL character’s, G’EVOLs is a mash of 3D art, pop culture, and comprehensive delinquency.
Although the launch had a few hiccups and received some backlash, G’EVOLs set out to question the current avatar project launch template from the start. While there are a few announced incentives to come for G’EVOLs holders, KidEight promised to deliver only what any collector should expect from an artist: high-quality art.
Defaced ‘N’ Friends
With a catalog of impressive client work under his belt, Defaced has crafted a widely recognizable style over the years. Although the distribution of his art hasn’t been remarkably widespread to date, his latest project featuring 100 characters may help change that.
With each 1/1 character showcasing unique features all their own, Defaced ‘N’ Friends sold out almost immediately. Now that the floor is sitting around 8 ETH, it’ll cost you a pretty penny for one of these beauties — but collecting a Defaced NFT is nothing to scoff at.
Jake’s World Editions
Multidisciplinary artist JAKΞ has been slowly gaining steam over the duration of 2021. With his 1/1 fine-art pieces continuing to make an impact on the NFT community, he branched out with the launch of a multi-editions collection this summer.
This new endeavor allows for a wider distribution of his works without collectors being locked into an auction format. With seven pieces currently available, a Jake’s World Editions will run you around 2.39 ETH. If that price is a bit high, you can always join his Discord for insider info and early access to his upcoming drops!
Just Bricks
The name says it all for this collection. Featuring the tagline “literally just bricks” and marketing almost exclusively through memes, this project recently reached its cap of 500 bricks minted.
Despite just being pictures of pixelated bricks, these NFTs have sold for as high as 8 ETH! The current price to join the Just Bricks community is 0.79 ETH, so if you’re an aspiring mason, this community may be for you.
CryptoZoo
For those of us who drew weird, hybrid animals as kids, CryptoZoo is a dream come true. By allowing its community to collect and breed exotic animal hybrids, the project’s initial buy-in is only the start of the journey.
With its 10K egg supply yet to be revealed, this project is still in its infancy, but has already begun rolling out its $ZOO community token. Right now the minimum price of a single egg is 0.3 ETH — and there’s no telling what you’ll hatch!
