Why: Exploring cell structures through custom-generated code, “Cytographia” is a nuanced and meticulously researched project that draws upon seminal scientific books and documentation, including Robert Hooke’s “Micrographia” (1665), Edmund Fry’s “Pantographia” (1799), Ernst Haeckel’s “Kunstformen der Natur” (1899), and Luigi Serafini’s “Codex Seraphinianus” (1981).
