Sailing the OpenSea: Non-Fungible Fungi, iNFT Personality Pod, The Boneys & More
Ahoy and GM, weary traveler.
Traversing the vast expanse of the world’s largest NFT marketplace has become a bit daunting, hasn’t it?
Well fret not. I’ve been venturing far and wide with the simple goal of unearthing the most innovative and awe-inspiring NFT projects out there!
In this weekly column, I’ll share all sorts of discoveries with you — big, small, new and old. So all aboard the S.S. WAGMI to marvel at what I’ve found whilst Sailing the OpenSea …
Non-Fungible Fungi Genesis
Non-Fungible Fungi Genesis is a collection of the first 100 NFTs from a forthcoming generative mushroom project. Featuring various unique traits among three species of mushroom, the genesis collection will supposedly influence all other fungi to come.
The full collection of 10,100 animated fungi set to commence minting on Oct. 31, but the Non-Fungible Fungi Genesis collection is currently the only way to obtain one of these magical-looking mushrooms. However, with a current floor price sitting around 12 ETH, unless you have a hefty bag in tow, it might be worth it to wait till public sale.
iNFT Personality Pod
From Alethea AI comes an interesting endeavor that melds NFTs and artificial intelligence. Through iNFT (intelligent NFT) Personality Pods, collectors can bring an NFT to life by embedding it with an AI personality.
iNFT Personality Pod’s 8,888 NFTs allow each collector to “fuse” one of their NFTs with Alethea’s AI technology, creating an AI-generated personality. Down the line, these iNFTs will “offer powerful AI Services within the world’s first Intelligent Metaverse: Noah’s Ark.” The current floor price for an iNFT Personality Pod is around 0.2 ETH.
The Boneys
The Boneys is a collection of 1,000 “randomly generated bags of bones” that began minting at the beginning of October. With around 400 Boneys currently available, there are still plenty of opportunities to secure a Boney.
The project developer mints each NFT independently, then puts it on public sale via OpenSea, so it’s refreshing to find smaller batch collections still rolling out among the generative PFP dominated NFT market. The Boneys’ art appears to be inspired by both Nouns and CrypToadz, and the current floor of the secondary Boneys is sitting around 0.1 ETH.
Kohi Kintsugi
Kohi Kintsugi is a generative art project created by two independent developers. Consisting of 1,024 NFTs, the Kohi Kintsugi collection is, as the devs say, a “technical test to prove our approach for on-chain generative art.”
Created using two in-house products — the Kohi Compiler and Kohi Composer — the Kohi duo has created a unique form of generative art reminiscent of Kintsugi, a Japanese pottery repair method that celebrates and adds value to the imperfections. Each NFT is unique, and the floor price is currently sitting at 0.75 ETH.
Forgotten Runes Wizards Cult
The Forgotten Runes Wizards Cult is a PFP project that’s been around since June 2021. It amassed a robust following, and the collection encompasses 10,000 wizard NFTs living on the Ethereum blockchain.
With a roadmap that includes a comic, TV show and burn mechanism, Forgotten Runes Wizards Cult has continued to remain prominent among the hundreds of PFP projects released this year. Although the floor has bounced around over the past few months, the cheapest wizards are currently going for around 0.9 ETH.
Geometry Runners
Geometry Runners, released toward the end of August, is Rich Lord’s second project on the Art Blocks platform. Made up of 1,000 animated NFTs, the collection consists of Runners in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes.
Although minted as part of the curated Art Blocks ecosystem, Geometry Runners seem to be somewhat of a passion project. Lord, the creator, described the project as “an exciting, adrenaline-soaked thrill ride” where the runners are “competing in the race of their lives.” The current floor for the Runners is 2.75 ETH.
DOS Punks
DOS Punks is a CryptoPunk derivative collection created by video artist Max Capacity. With a max supply of 1,000 NFTs, the DOS Punks are split up 50/50 on the Ethereum and Tezos blockchains.
DOS Punks takes inspiration from MS-DOS, an old disk operating system that was phased out around the early 2000s. By mixing DOS characters and retro gaming color palettes, Max Capacity has recreated Punks — and their unique traits — in bright, glitched-out fashion.
