Contributor Guidelines for nft now

BY nft now Staff

January 18, 2021

We are on a mission to redefine how creators and their communities share in the value they create. We accomplish our mission by producing freshly minted news, features, and analysis on how trailblazing artists, collectors, and technologists are redefining the creative economy — and how you can be a part of it. At nft now, we welcome insights from a variety of experts who want to share their ideas. If you are a journalist seeking freelance opportunities, please see our Pitch Guide for Freelancers.

For consideration, please reach out to us via the email listed here. Please note that contributor articles are unpaid. Here are the other things you need to know.

What we look for:

  • Expertise: You should have demonstrated expertise in the subject area you’re writing about.
  • Evidence: Ideas must be supported by evidence and examples. Personal experience, links to secondary resources, and interviews all count.
  • Context: Your ideas should build on (and show an understanding of) existing conversations.
  • Originality: Unique arguments and insights that can’t be obtained from other sources. Articles centered on a contributor’s unique positioning are especially desired.

Requirements:

  • We don’t publish pieces that have appeared elsewhere. This includes other websites, forums, print publications, social media networks, etc.
  • Contributor content that appears on nft now may not be published elsewhere for 90 days.
  • Final articles should generally be 800 – 2000 words unless otherwise discussed.
  • We don’t publish any content that comes across as promotional. References to personal projects and affiliations should be necessary and kept minimal.
  • We will need the right to use your name, biography, and likeness in connection with the publication. You may submit a short (~40 words) bio with your piece and one link to a professional website, LinkedIn, or company site.
    • Use of pseudonyms will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • To ensure proper disclaimers are added, contributors must disclose any financial, familial, or other relationships they have with companies, non-profits, or other entities or individuals mentioned in their content.
    • Please ensure you review and understand our Ethics Policy to ensure we live up to our standards.
  • You will need to sign a contributor contract before we publish your content. Most of what you need to know is outlined here, but the contract governs all rights and obligations and supersedes other statements made here or elsewhere.

Things to remember:

  • Like you, we want your article to be read by a wide array of readers. Our editors ensure everything we publish is accurate, fair, well-written, and adheres to our editorial standards. They are also experts in the tone, voice, and style that our readers love. As such…
    • We retain the right to make necessary modifications to content to ensure it is suitable for publication. This includes correcting any grammatical or factual errors, altering phrasing and style to conform with our Editorial Style Guide, editing for brevity or clarity, etc.
    • We retain the right to make final decisions regarding packaging. This includes headlines, social copy, metadata, featured images, and related elements.
    • We reserve the right to unpublish and delete your content from our website and channels at any time for any reason.
