10 Bitcoin Ordinal PFP Projects You May Have Missed
Two weeks ago, Nodemonkes created a time machine for sideliners to get involved in the Bitcoin Ordinals ecosystem, re-creating the feeling of being early to low inscription numbers from last February.
It worked! Serving as a massive onboarding event for collectors and enjoyers on Ethereum & Solana, the entire crypto community rallied behind this launch, inspiring FOMO in every alpha chat across Twitter and Discord.
The attention and hype were channeled straight into Bitcoin Puppets, a highly meme-worthy 10k expansion from O.P.I.U.M.—an original collection of 777 hand-drawn puppets.
Showcasing a series of crudely drawn yet endearing characters engaged in edgy activities like ripping bongs and huffing glue, the project gained notoriety. Ironically, the more art critics disparaged the project, the more the floor price surged.
You’ve probably heard about Bitcoin Punks, the first 10k collection on Bitcoin; Bitcoin Frogs—going from free to $18,000 per unit; or Ordinal Maxi Biz (OMB), the project that two CryptoPunk holders controversially burned their Punks to get on the allowlist for.
But what else is there in Ordinals? Here are some less-heralded PFP projects you might be missing.
Ordinal Punks
The OG of OGs. The very first PFP collection on Bitcoin, commanding staggeringly early inscription numbers under sub-1k. One hundred punks were generated from the open-source algorithm by PunksNotDead, paying homage to the CryptoPunks by Matt & John.
There was no Twitter account at the beginning, just a Discord where you paid FlowStay (the creator) 0.01 BTC OTC (over-the-counter), and he sent you the ordinal (if you could receive it). Most people let him custody the asset while they traded secondarily on spreadsheets. Yes, spreadsheets. The Discord was on fire, attracting ETH collectors such as 888 and Dingaling, with an all-time high sale of 11.5 BTC ($495,000).
Truly a remarkable feat to get this collection inscribed one by one in the protocol’s infancy. OP (Ordinal Punks) will always be legendary.

Inscribed Pepes
If you’ve lived under a rock for two decades, Pepe the Frog is one of internet culture’s most celebrated and pervasive memes today. It was originally created by Matt Furie in 2005. The creators of Inscribed Pepes (0wl & Wavez) realized this meme needed to be immortalized with this new protocol and got to inscribing 69 1/1’s onto Bitcoin.
Gaining instant attention and notoriety, Inscribed Pepes cemented themselves as meme-slinging, alpha-calling OGs as they built out a vibing community Discord that you actually check daily. Realizing 69 can only be so inclusive with a high price tag, the team expanded the collection with Lil Peepos—and extension of 420 little pepes on Uncommon Sats, for the culture.

· FP: 1.14 BTC ($49,000)
· Inscriptions: 2,115-2,189
Bitcoin Bandits
“When the dust settles, the Bandits emerge.”
A collection of 512 bandits was drawn by ROBO & DEEBZ in just three days, establishing a cult-like following with fresh, unique pixel art. The rollout was quite unique, featuring waves of OTC deals followed by waves of auctions through the Discord. Spearheaded by ChartFuMonkey and a team of crypto-enthusiasts and degens, the Bitcoin Bandits rose to the top of the charts on Bitcoin. The team didn’t stop there; they built a teleburning tool to help projects “migrate” from other chains to Bitcoin, aiding ABC on Solana to migrate their 10k collection and controversially burning the very first CryptoPunk to Bitcoin. Truly an OG project with deep roots.

Fomojis
Colorful, vibrant, fun—Fomojis brought a breath of fresh air to Bitcoin, starting as a collection of 100 emoji-inspired characters by Sanj & Swayze. They curated a community and built tools to educate and empower creators and artists. Like Inscribed Pepes, Fomojis recently expanded with Fomoji’s 2.0, a 2,000-piece project expansion, inviting even more enjoyooors with a peer-to-peer invite model. It is one of the first larger collections with an advanced delayed reveal mechanism without smart contracts—just on-chain, immutable code. The Fomoji project is growing and thriving, sharing knowledge of inscribing using recursion and intricate techniques on Ordinals.

Unordinals
“What is dead may never die.”
Unordinals began taking over the mempool around the 44k inscription mark. It was fresh, unique—black and white undead pixel art. At the time, it was very difficult to batch-inscribe large collections, so a supply of 1k was more significant than we had seen. Using Ethereum as a launchpad, Unordinals was released on ETH and burned over to BTC—similar to Nullish’s Edge of Oblivion and my project, Ordinal Shards. This one-way bridge brought in a lot of newcomers, as anyone with a Metamask and some ETH could get involved in Ordinals. As of this writing, only 105 remain on Ethereum, an impressive 90% burn rate. Since the genesis collection, Unordinals recently launched an extension collection called Unordinals: Rebirth, introducing a larger community and a bit of color—literally.

Megapunks
Starting on Stacks with their Ape Club collection, the Megapont team quickly shifted their focus to Ordinals as they inscribed a 10k collection called Megapunks, around 200k inscriptions. With iconic yellow backgrounds and three-quarter view pixel characters, Megapunks have found their place on Ordinals, being one of the first original 10k projects. Megapont has built a strong, loyal community with an unusually high unique holder count of 70% for the collection. This one is worth watching, with a non-threatening secondary price, unlike some other OGs.

· FP: 0.009 BTC ($387)
· Inscriptions: 219,210 -328,418
Ordinal Penguins
Inscribed around the 3k inscription mark, Ordinal Penguins remain one of the OG projects in the space. With a low collection size and inscription numbers, high unique holders, and a high floor price, this seems to be a pattern with many of these early, low-supply collections. The holders have stuck together in the Discord, sharing alpha, and raising the tide for all boats.

· Inscriptions: 2,725-3,646
Bitcoin Bears
Similar to the origin story of Ordinal Penguins, Bitcoin Bears also managed to curate a die-hard community from the beginning, donning inscription numbers around the 5k mark. Another unique pixel-art collection featuring traits the NFT world is familiar with—3D glasses, laser eyes, rainbow puke—as well as some Bitcoin-specific ones, such as Bitcoin glasses. Seeking to expand their curated community, the Bears launched the Bitcoin Bear Cubs, a 10k expansion of the OG collection, staying under the 1 million inscription mark.

Bitcoin Whales
Bitcoin Whales dominated social media leading up to their free 10k collection launch. Unlike what we’ve seen with PSBT-style mints on MagicEden, this was an inscribe-on-demand where users inscribed directly through Gamma to get their whale on Bitcoin. Led by founder Tosyo, who continues to build and onboard in the space, this project made a splash despite the high friction and slow rollout. It remains one of the more accessible projects for getting involved in the community and everything they’re building. Their latest achievement was partnering with the Balinese government and Ordzaar to leverage blockchain technology to preserve culture and history.

MNCHRMS
Monochromes are a fresh take on a sideways PFP collection—featuring unique black-and-white comic-style art. It’s always refreshing to see something new, especially something with a classic style but also embodying culture. It’s no wonder this collection has been gaining traction recently. Launched by Beyond Rockets, a team that was dropping on Cardano, this project demonstrates how Ordinals have attracted builders and creators from all other chains to create value on Bitcoin. Definitely worth checking out.
