SuperRare

SuperRare is a digital art market built on the Ethereum blockchain. It was created by John Crain, John Perkins, and Charles Crain, who began working on it in 2017 and launched the platform in 2018. The team envisioned SuperRare as a mix between a social network and art market, describing it as “Instagram meets Christie’s.” The year the platform launched, the SuperRare team presented at Christie’s Art + Technology blockchain summit, where they helped highlight the benefits of NFT technologies to members of the traditional art world. In 2019, they collaborated with digital art collective DADA.art for an event at Tate Modern. The SuperRare team also founded Pixura, which is the company that creates the crypto technology running SuperRare. Through this work, the team helped onboard innumerable people to NFTs.
