The BRIT Awards Announces Celebrity NFT Collaboration With Serenade
The BRIT Awards has announced its entry into the world of NFTs. In partnership with eco-friendly NFT platform Serenade, this year’s annual showcase for the UK music industry will feature a groundbreaking collection of 13 NFTs.
To celebrate the 2022 ceremony, the BRIT Awards have enlisted enigmatic digital artist MRE for this innovative new collection. Hosted by Serenade, this initiative will offer fans the opportunity to collect a piece of music history and get closer to the winning artists by owning an official digital collectible potentially featuring the likeness of nominees like Adele, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and more.
The sale goes live on Feb. 9 @ 9 a.m. GMT at the BRIT x Serenade NFT marketplace here and will feature 13 NFTs, mirroring the 13 winners from the awards ceremony — which takes place at the O2 Arena in London on Feb. 8. There will be 250 editions available for each NFT, priced at £10 each.
With this announcement, the BRIT Awards has joined the ranks of the GRAMMY’s and other leading music events in endeavoring to commemorate its 45th year in existence. And while this forthcoming collection of NFTs brings with it an air of excitement and nostalgia, the drop also features a philanthropic mission, with all proceeds raised from the sale to be donated to the BRIT Trust charity fund.
“NFTs are an exciting new space for The BRIT Awards, and we feel it is really important that we take this opportunity to help support charities such as Nordoff Robbins and The BRIT School through The BRIT Trust,” BRIT Awards’ Director of Digital, Giuseppe De Cristofano said in a statement. “We’re really excited by the creative from MRE, and we can’t wait to see how fans engage with the collection and commemorate with artists after The BRITs on February 8th.”
In addition to benefitting the BRIT Trust charity fund, the BRIT awards have gone the extra mile by partnering with eco-friendly NFT platform Serenade to streamline the collecting process for this forthcoming collection. With BRIT Awards NFTs available to purchase via credit or debit card, Serenade’s innovative check-out facility has significantly lowered the barrier of entry into NFTs by functioning as a standard e-commerce cart.
“Fans don’t have to know the first thing about digital wallets and crypto to make a purchase on Serenade, they just need to arrive with a credit card and the love of a favorite artist,” Serenade’s Founder Max Shand tells nft now. “The BRITs is one of the strongest global music brands and we couldn’t be more excited to — in the words of Depeche Mode — take music [NFTs] to the masses.”
