Artist Grant Yun’s piece, “The Last Supper,” is set to be auctioned in Sotheby’s next Contemporary Curated sale, according to a tweet from Michael Bouhanna, VP and Head of Digital Art at Sotheby’s. Its inclusion represents a significant milestone in both the art world and the world of digital assets.

In a collection of over 300 captivating pieces, Yun’s creation stands out as the sole representation of the Web3 space. While Yun will present his 1/1 both physically and digitally, his work of art will be the sole NFT amidst the other physical masterpieces.

“Being featured in this iconic annual auction is a dream come true,” Yun told nft now. “It gives me a feeling of empowerment that I am helping create a voice for our community in Web3.”

Launched in 2013, the Contemporary Curated series invites individuals from various creative domains to select works that resonate with their own artistic sensibilities, influenced by their roles in fashion, film, music, and more. This season’s curator is NBA All-Star Kevin Love, who is an avid art collector and philanthropist. Previous curators include Kelly Rowland and Virgil Abloh.

“My practice draws from many art movements from over the past two centuries,” Yun said. “My work in itself is built on a foundation of realism yet explores nuanced and subtle themes focused on guiding viewers through their own personal emotions, reflections, and memories. “

“The Last Supper,” created by Yun in 2022, features a captivating composition that centers around 13 cows positioned in front of a cattle gate. Yun’s signature green, blue, and white shades infuse the piece with a unique and captivating vibrancy.

“Jesus Christ this might be my fav piece I made all year,” Yun tweeted in November 2022.

The physical 1/1 will be presented in collaboration with the auction house and Avant Arte, a curated art discovery and ownership marketplace. Avant Arte crafted Yun’s piece using UV flatbed technology on canvas measuring 33.5×59 inches. Grant Yun’s inclusion in this esteemed auction reaffirms the growing acceptance of digital works in the traditional art scene. It also further underscores how the merging of traditional and digital art is continuing to transform the realm of artistic creativity.
