Jack Butcher Announced as Latest Artist in Oracle Red Bull Racing Velocity Series
Following on from Snowfro’s /// @ArtOnBlockchain collection, Jack Butcher will be the fourth artist featured in Oracle Red Bull Racing’s #velocityseries.
The video announcing the upcoming drop, published on the Twitter/X profile of Red Bull’s racing team, features Butcher, talking about how the experience of driving has impacted him, personally–and aesthetically.
“There’s something really powerful about the experience of driving,” he says in a video promoting the work. “It’s like this attempt to refine an idea, or to remove the superfluous from something complicated,” he said.
The Velocity Series, a partnership between Oracle Red Bull Racing and the crypto exchange Bybit, curated by art collective ArtOnInternet, interprets the spirit of racing through the medium of digital art.
While Jack Butcher’s contribution will be the fourth of the series, the first three have expressed the diversity of visual art.
According to their website, Red Bull’s Velocity Series is “a Web3 experience that merges speed technology and art from the world’s leading digital artists.”
The series has four releases, coinciding with races in Denmark, Japan, the United States, and Abu Dhabi. Each release is an NFT collection, available to holders of the Velocity Pass.
The project has two purposes – to expose racing fans to the world of digital art, and to give tangible connections to fans, offering unique designs inspired by the spirit of their beloved teams. Velocity Passes dropped on 28 July, at .3ETH—and are trading on secondary, as of this writing, at .8ETH, having traded nearly 2000ETH of volume.
Transforming data into unique art drops, this web3 experience merges speed, technology, and art from top digital artists, including Rik Oostenbroek, Per Kristian Stoveland, Erick Calderon, and Jack Butcher.
