Pussy Riot Announces New Charity NFT Collection
Since the beginning of 2021, Pussy Riot has become an active part of the NFT community – collecting and supporting crypto-artists big and small. Having dropped their first few NFTs back in March, the Russian punk rock outfit will now be minting a new, multi-piece collection tomorrow, September 29, at 6 pm ET.
Consisting of a 333-piece drop on OpenSea and a 1/1 auction via SuperRare, the “ACAB” collection is inspired by the group’s shared love for rebellion, plants, cows, and psychedelics. The 1/1 piece, entitled “Virgin Mary, Please Become A Feminist,” will feature hand-drawn artwork across a digitized copy of founding member Nadya Tolokonnikova’s actual prison sentencing documents from 2012.
Each of the NFTs in the 333-piece drop will be available to purchase for 0.1312 ETH, with collectors recieving the added utility of access to a private Discord channel, free tickets to any Pussy Riot concert or DJ set for the next 3 years and more. The reserve for the SuperRare 1/1 will be set at 13.12 ETH and anyone who bids on “Virgin Mary, Please Become A Feminist” will receive an art poster signed by Pussy Riot.
The Winner of the 1/1 will also be invited to collaborate with Pussy Riot on an art piece of choice, be it a song, a drawing, an animated piece, etc. Proceeds from the project will support victims of domestic violence in Russia, political prisoners, and Pussy Riot’s own ongoing activism and art.
Known for their unflinching political views, this latest collection builds upon the group’s mission of bringing unpleasant and necessary topics and conversations to the forefront of pop culture. In that vein, Pussy Riot will host a slew of Discord and Twitter Spaces events to talk about the project ahead of the release.
