TIME is set to launch a new NFT collection and community initiative called TIMEPieces, featuring original artwork from more than 40 influential artists. Announced by TIME’s president, Keith Grossman, the iconic media company’s first TIMEPieces collection will go live on Thursday, September 23, at 12 pm ET.

Minting of TIMEPieces’ genesis collection, themed “Building a Better Future,” will open to the public at 0.1 ETH per piece. Each buyer will receive a randomized TIMEPiece that won’t be revealed until all of the project’s 4,676 NFTs have been minted.

Beyond owning a piece of TIME history, TIMEPieces offers collectors the opportunity to purchase an original work from a diverse assortment of global artists curated by D.W. Pine, TIME’s creative director. The group includes previous TIME cover artists and newcomers to the NFT space, as well as familiar names like Baeige, FVCKRENDER, J.N. Silva, Justin Aversano, Olive Allen, Victor Mosquera, and many more.

Owning a TIMEPiece will also unlock unlimited access to TIME.com through TIME’s 100th anniversary in 2023, exclusive invites to TIME’s in-person events, and access to special digital experiences. Owners of multiple pieces will also be extended additional opportunities.

“TIMEPieces is our latest foray into NFTs, this time with the goal of also fostering community, loyalty and rewards,” Grossman writes in the announcement. “While many of the NFT drops that have happened to date within the media space have focused on high-end single editions or multiple versions of collectibles, the release of TIMEPieces marks the first time a major media brand has taken on a Web3 approach toward building community and using this technology as an innovative extension of our current Digital Subscription efforts.”

Under Grossman’s leadership, TIME has already found a foothold in the NFT space with its special edition magazine cover auctions on SuperRare, Beeple cover story, and collaboration with avatar project Cool Cats.
