Sailing the OpenSea: Corruption(s*), Grailers, Citizenpx & More
Ahoy and GM, weary traveler.
Traversing the vast expanse of the world’s largest NFT marketplace has become a bit daunting, hasn’t it?
Well fret not. I’ve been venturing far and wide with the simple goal of unearthing the most innovative and awe-inspiring NFT projects out there!
In this weekly column, I’ll share all sorts of discoveries with you — big, small, new and old. So all aboard the S.S. WAGMI to marvel at what I’ve found whilst Sailing the OpenSea …
Corruption(s*)
Corruption(s*) is the latest project from Dom Hofmann, co-founder of Vine, and more recently innovative the RPG NFT project Loot. The Corruption(s*) collection — comprised of 4,196 NFTs — is shrouded in mystery, and is slowly being deciphered by a community of its collectors.
Featuring the warning “EXPERIMENTAL ART. NO ROADMAP, NO UTILITY, AND ABSOLUTELY NO PROMISES” as its collection description, Corruption(s*) was a fully stealth launch, initially discovered by a handful of collectors who were closely tracking Hofmann’s wallet. Little is known about the purpose or mechanics of the project, but Eli Stonberg has done a fantastic job explaining current developments via a Twitter thread. The floor is currently at 0.65 ETH.
Grailers
Grailers is the inaugural NFT project from GrailersDAO, a community focused on collecting high-end “grail” art NFTs. Grailers, which launched toward the end of October, has a max supply of 999 NFTs at 2.25 ETH per mint.
With 100-plus still available to mint and 20-plus available to purchase via secondaries on OpenSea, upon sellout Grailers will “aim to support generative artists and the broader generative art ecosystem,” having already acquired a few pieces from prominent artist Tyler Hobbs in the interim. The current floor price for Grailers on OpenSea is 2.1 ETH.
Citizenpx
The latest from celebrated art collective eBoy, Citizenpx is an avatar project set to launch on Nov. 20. The collection, which consists of 93 edition NFTs, will launch on Rarible, with secondaries undoubtedly to pop up via the official Citizenpx OpenSea page.
As one of the most prominent pixel artists in the NFT space, eBoy’s Citizenpx will serve to expand the collective’s continuously growing catalog. Although prices are yet to be announced, as there will be either five or three editions available for each PFP NFT, obtaining a Citizen should prove much easier than eBoy’s highly sought-after 1/1 pieces.
CryptoDickbutts
In truly unbelievable fashion, PFP NFT project CryptoDickbutts came back from the dead recently after months of meager secondary sales. Consisting of 5,200 NFTs, CryptoDickbutts is a themed, adult-only collection featuring avatars with randomly generated traits.
CryptoDickbutts, which launched back in August, remained mostly in obscurity until witnessing a resurgence of trading toward the beginning of October. If planning on collecting a Dickbutt, take the developers’ advice and “keep away from children.” The current CryptoDickbutts floor is 0.95 ETH.
Pxin Gxng
Pxin Gxng is a community-driven collection from GxngYxng, the creator of the popular Ghxsts NFT project. At 60 edition NFTs and constantly growing, the Pxin Gxng is a reflection of the Ghxsts Discord community of the same name.
Pxin Gxng is essentially a set of edition pieces created by GxngYxng to offer a wider range of accessibility to those wanting to become an active part of the Ghxsts collector community. At 0.4 ETH, the Pxin Gxng floor is much lower than that of the main Ghxsts project, and is mostly made up of memes that reflect the community’s collective sense of humor.
BRAiN VOMiTS GARDEN
BRAiN VOMiTs GARDEN is a new PFP NFT project from Steven Rea, aka BRAiN VOMiT. A collection of 4,444 NFTs, BV GARDEN offers up a wide array of wonky, near-psychedelic looking flowers.
Crafted in Rea’s signature, trippy style, each NFT in the BV GARDEN collection was generated from a list of more than 300 hand-drawn traits. With a current floor of 0.71 ETH, BV GARDEN appears to be one of the hottest new PFP projects on the market.
ENS: Ethereum Name Service
ENS has been around for years now, but considering its recent surge in popularity, it’s about time to highlight the project on this list. At 335,000 NFTs and growing, ENS domains are sort of like the bit.ly for the blockchain, providing a way for users to map human-readable names to Ethereum addresses, IPFS hashes, or website URLs.
While any user can create their own ENS name via the ENS Domain App, there’s a vast quantity of interesting and humorous names available via OpenSea secondary sales. With a current floor of 0.02 ETH, this naming service is not only limited to custom ENS leasing, but available to anyone who can afford it.
