Bitski CEO Donnie Dinch on Building the Shopify for NFTs
While Donnie Dinch may not be as internet famous as many other artists or developers in the NFT space, he is undoubtedly a lynchpin of the non-fungible community. As the NFT ecosystem has grown in leaps and bounds in 2021, Dinch is doing what he can to break down the barriers standing in the way of interacting with NFTs.
As CEO of Bitski, Dinch has been focused for the last three years on solving NFT and blockchain issues that many might not even realize exist. With the goal of providing a simple platform for game developers, brands, and consumers to create, buy, and sell NFTs, Bitski has continued to turn heads as the NFT ecosystem expands.
The company recently achieved a $19 million funding round that saw backing from Andreessen Horowitz, Jay-Z, Serena Williams and others. Dinch says Bitski is already putting that money to use, and has already helped the company pick up some serious speed in its growth.
“In a lot of ways, those funds have been used for building out our team,” Dinch tells nft now. “I think we were a four or five person team [prior to fundraising], and now we’re at 26.”
On this episode of the nft now podcast, Donnie Dinch talks about what’s next for Bitski, how far the NFT market has come and more.
Considering the pace of the NFT space and the margin for error in interacting with smart contracts, NFT newcomers can have a difficult time adapting to blockchain technology. Although there are a growing number of resources available for would-be enthusiasts, the roadblocks from NFT tourist to purist still exist. That’s where Bitski comes in.
Dinch says with its web-based wallet, Bitski is not only building tech to provide ease of access within NFTs, but to integrate within the constellation of places internet users already spend time. Among other things, Bitski hopes to make NFT technology simple for even those newest to the space.
“One fundamental principle we have is that we don’t believe that you should need to be an expert in blockchain or cryptocurrencies in order to participate in owning digital goods,” Dinch tells nft now. “That’s one of the biggest reasons the [funding] round came together like that.”
