FVCKRENDER on Building Virtual Worlds and the Future of NFTs

NFT Now Podcast Season: 1 Episode: 16

July 21, 2021

FVCKRENDER is someone who needs no introduction. Having grown to be one of the leading artists in the NFT space, he’s been working tirelessly for nearly six years to achieve the position he’s found himself in now.

Having first delved into 3D art over half a decade ago while in the hospital from a biking injury, the self-taught FVCKRENDER has gone on to work with the likes of Flying Lotus, Katy Perry, Instagram, Backstreet Boys, Lil Nas X, Calvin Harris and many more.

Although he flourished doing client work, FVCKRENDER kept a heavy schedule working up to 80 – 100 hours a week on commissions alone. While he still works quite a bit, he says he’s making some of his favorite work to-date, and doing it solely for himself.

“I still work a lot, but I work a quarter of what I used to work. Basically, I just don’t have to do anything else, which is pretty much the craziest part,” says FVCKRENDER. “I’m taking commercial work right now – but being able to say yes and no to a project is so crazy”

On this episode of the nft now podcast, FVCKRENDER talks about his early days in art, his ridiculous work ethic, having his MetaMask wallet hacked and more.

It’s become somewhat of a status symbol in the NFT community to have collected a FVCKRENDER piece. Depicting colorful, physically impossible and fantastically pleasing 3D scenery and sculpture, his works have generated about $7.7 million in sales to date (according to CryptoArt.io).

But because he’s such a high profile artist, FVCKRENDER deals with a lot of publicity, DM’s and interview requests on a daily basis – which led to a recent cyberattack he experienced. The attackers enticed him with a mock-up of some commission work they were hoping to do with him, only to have him download a virus that gave them access to every password he had ever stored on his computer.

“When I saw my MetaMask like, empty, my vision blurred and I started to feel this kick of adrenaline,” says FVCKRENDER. “They literally had all my seed phrases for all of my wallets because my phrases were stored on my desktop. But we were able to secure everything really quickly and without the guys at Manifold I would probably have lost way more.”
